Two days after 27 folks died inside a four-storey business constructing close to the metro station in Mundka, the Delhi Police arrested the proprietor of the constructing, based on officers Sunday.
Deputy commissioner of police of Outer District Sameer Sharma confirmed that the absconding proprietor of the constructing, Manish Lakra, was arrested by a workforce after conducting a number of raids in Delhi and Haryana.
The police stated Lakra lived along with his household on the highest ground of the constructing that caught hearth on Friday, and escaped by leaping to the terrace of the adjoining constructing.
They stated two brothers, Harish Goel and Varun Goel, had taken three flooring of the constructing for lease for his or her firm, which primarily manufactured, assembled, and bought CCTVs and WiFi routers. The Goel brothers had been arrested on Friday night time.
Police stated Lakra ran an actual property workplace from the bottom ground and the Goel brothers took the primary ground on lease from him in 2018. “In 2019, they took one more floor and in 2021, they took the third floor… They paid Rs 1.2 lakh as rent, via cash, to the owner, his wife and mother,” a senior police officer stated.
The constructing had just one exit and police discovered that cartons had been saved on the staircase, which hindered folks from getting out when the blaze began on the primary ground.
Delhi Fire Services (DFS) chief, Atul Garg, stated: “The building didn’t have a fire NOC (no objection certificate) and clearance from the MCD. It seems the entire building was illegal.”
