710 phones confiscated from jail inmates in special drive: Bhagwant Mann


In a significant crackdown towards the nexus of gangsters and criminals working from jails, the Punjab authorities has to date confiscated 710 cell phones from jails in a particular drive.

In a video message, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann mentioned that in the course of the particular drive launched from March 16 to May 10, as many as 710 mobiles have been recovered from jail inmates. He mentioned that from March 16 to March 31, 166 mobiles had been recovered whereas 354 mobiles have been confiscated between April 1 and April 30. He added that 190 mobiles have been recovered between May 1 and May 10. Mann mentioned that these mobiles have been utilized by the gangsters or smugglers to run their rackets from the jails.

The Chief Minister mentioned that investigations are on to nab the individuals on whose names these numbers have been registered. He mentioned that very quickly strict motion will probably be taken towards them. Mann additional mentioned duty of the officers and workers of jails who have been concerned in sneaking in these mobiles can even be mounted.

The Chief Minister additional mentioned that abolishing the VIP tradition within the jails, the Punjab authorities has determined to desert VIP cells and remodel them into administrative blocks. He mentioned that these lodged within the jails have been punished by the courts for violating the regulation they usually can’t get pleasure from amenities whereas sitting inside a jail. Mann additionally mentioned that these jails will now be true reform homes.
