Twelve sacks of lemon, weighing about 70 kgs, had been stolen from a mandi in Modinagar, Ghaziabad. Police mentioned they’ve registered an FIR and initiated a probe.
According to the police, the incident befell on Wednesday late evening round 2 am. Police mentioned preliminary probe has discovered that the thieves arrived on a bike and a mini-truck, loaded the sacks into the mini-truck and escaped inside a couple of minutes. Police have a recovered a CCTV footage of the incident.
Akash Patel, circle officer, Sadar, mentioned, “The victim said that he had closed his shop at the mandi at 12.30 am. When he returned at 4 am, he found that the some sacks of lemon, weighing over 70 kgs, had been stolen. The accused arrived in a mini-truck and escaped within a few minutes. The accused are yet to be arrested.”
In CCTV footage of the incident, a bike borne man could possibly be purportedly seen doing a recee of the realm, earlier than a mini-truck arrives.
The vegetable vendor, Rashid mentioned, “I had ordered for the stock of vegetables from Azadpur mandi. Around 12.45 am, the vegetables including lemon were delivered at the shop in the presence of the grain porter. The stock was worth Rs 60,000-70,000. At 4 am, I found out that the lemon sacks had been stolen. I checked with the porter and dealer and they informed that the entire consignment was delivered.”
He mentioned that the safety guard of the mandi was patrolling within the different aspect of the market on the time of the incident.
Police mentioned they’ve registered an FIR towards the unidentified accused underneath part 380 (theft in dwelling, home and many others) at Modi Nagar police station.
