Pune: Mistaken for his son, 50-year-old man hacked to death in his sleep


A 50-year-old man was hacked to dying with a pointy weapon whereas asleep at his residence in Shirur taluka of Pune district, after he was mistaken for his son at nighttime. The police have arrested a 19-year-old for committing the crime.

Early Friday morning, Jalindar Dhere, a resident of Babhulsar village in Shirur taluka, was discovered mendacity useless in a pool of blood within the veranda of his home. Dhere, who used to work as a safety guard at a personal firm in Ranjangaon industrial space, had suffered a number of accidents on his neck, shoulder and again.

After Dhere’s spouse filed a case, the Ranjangaon MIDC police questioned Dhere’s son Utkarsh, who has a legal document. “This led us to his friend Nikhil Theurkar, 19. He was arrested after our investigation,” mentioned Inspector Bhagwant Mandage, in command of the Ranjangaon MIDC police station.

According to the police, Theurkar fought with the deputy sarpanch of his village just a few days in the past. After the struggle, Theurkar and Utkarsh spoke over the cellphone and deliberate to kill the deputy sarpanch. The dialog included a dialogue on procuring a pointy weapon. Utkarsh allegedly despatched the audio clip of this dialog to a number of individuals, together with the deputy sarpanch himself, and this soured their friendship.

Nursing a grudge in opposition to Utkarsh, Theurkar went to Dhere’s home on Thursday evening, mistook Dhere for Utkarsh and murdered him in his sleep, Mandage mentioned.
