Punjab: Van with students turns turtle, 15 miss Class 10 board exam


Eighteen kids have been injured when an overloaded van carrying 30 college students overturned in Punjab’s Faridkot district Friday morning, the police stated. The college students of Government School Koharwala have been headed to an examination centre to put in writing their Class 10 board examination.

Amid stories that every one 30 college students failed to seem for the examination, Faridkot district training officer Shivraj Kapoor stated, “Only 15 students couldn’t appear for board exam. Rest were able to reach the centre a bit late. They were given 20 minutes extra time to complete the paper. For the other 15 students, we have sent the list to Secretary (education) Pardeep Aggarwal. He assured to get the exmas conducted for them after at a later date.”

According to the police, the small van meant for transporting items overturned close to Hrini village of Kotkapura constituency within the district. While the 18 injured college students have been hospitalised, the others sustained minor accidents, officers stated, including that these on the hospital have been out of hazard.

One pupil and the driving force have been referred to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College in Faridkot whereas the others have been being handled on the Civil Hospital in Kotkapura.
